In February 2001 John Ardt the associate publisher of Latitude 38 Magazine founded Summer Sailstice which takes place during the weekend nearest the summer solstice. Summer Sailstice is a global annual celebration of sailing with the goal of uniting sailors to celebrate & share their passion for sailing. Events are being held June 24^th & 25^th across the United States, Europe, Australia, the South Pacific and Canada!

On the Summer Sailstice site you can share your sailing plans for the weekend with fellow sailors around the world. You will then have a pin on the map so that others can see what everyone will be doing to celebrate sailing. On the map are also pins on the locations of public events being held, find one happening near you!
