DESCRIPTION:
Ocean Leaper is an exceptional bluewater cruising Hylas 46, offered for sale by her original owners. Originally the demonstration boat at the 2005 United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis, she was outfitted to a remarkably high specification for the event, with numerous additional upgrades added post-purchase.This yacht has been used exclusively for seasonal cruising in the Caribbean under top-tier yacht management. As a result of meticulous maintenance and ongoing systems upgrades by the sellers, Ocean Leaper is in outstanding condition, presenting more like a much newer Hylas 46.
On Deck:
The deck boasts contemporary styling, including a varnished teak toe rail, grab rails, helm wheel, and cockpit table, as well as varnished teak stern pulpit seats. These features add both beauty and functionality to the exterior.
Below Deck:
Step below to discover a thoughtfully upgraded interior. Highlights include bamboo flooring with teak inlays, a feature uncommon in this model year, and flat-panel cabinetry. The headliner extends around the portlights, contributing to the yacht’s modern aesthetic. Additional interior updates include:
- All LED lighting, with dimmable downlights and reading lamps.
- Upgraded faucets in the galley and heads, presenting as new.
- Modern Vimar light switches, air conditioning controllers, and outlets.
Systems and Upgrades:
Ocean Leaper features a host of upgraded systems to ensure reliability and comfort:
- Newer generator and tropical 3-unit air conditioning (upgraded from the standard 2 units).
- Recently replaced Lifeline AGM batteries.
- Inspected rigging and a freshly painted bottom with rudder servicing.
- Upgraded 3000W inverter.
- Recently installed solar panels mounted on a new bimini.
- All systems have been recently serviced, ensuring the yacht is ready to cruise.
Ocean Leaper is a well-polished example of the Hylas 46. For its model year, the interior was fitted out like many of the later 2008+ hulls, featuring:
- Bamboo and teak cabin sole
- Headliner extending downwards around portlights, teak battens integrated with headliner
- Contemporary flat-panel cabinetry with ventilation slits
- Several major upgrades have been made throughout the years, including:
- Overhead lighting upgraded to dimmable LED
- Modern LED reading lamps
- Hella 12V fans added for improved ventilation
- Upgraded Vimar lighting switches, 110V outlets, and air conditioning controls
- Upholstery Ultraleather upgraded throughout
On the starboard side, there is a settee that pulls out several inches to create a large sea berth. A custom cabinet designed to hold drinking glasses was added after delivery. On port, aft of the dinette, is a forward-facing nav station. Aft of the nav station is the entry to the aft shower and head.
The galley is well-equipped with upgraded 12V Frigoboat refrigeration and digital controls. There are separate refrigerator and freezer compartments. The Force10 three-burner oven/range has been upgraded, and the microwave was recently replaced. Cutlery and galleyware are included in the sale. Countertops are Corian. There is a large stainless steel brushed sink with new faucet. Plus there are fresh and saltwater foot pumps.
In the aft cabin, there is a centerline queen-size berth with a custom foam mattress. Lee hooks installed. The cabin offers three hanging lockers, multiple drawers, and additional cabinets. To starboard is a built-in seat, and on port is a powder station. A full-length mirror is located on the door to the head. The ensuite head features an electric toilet, three mirrors with storage behind, and a large mirror opposite the vanity plus teak floor grate. A separate shower area includes a large linen closet, which can accommodate the installation of a combination washer/dryer if desired. The shower also has a fold-down teak seat.
Forward of the saloon, the guest cabin features a double-sized Pullman berth on the port side. Lee hooks installed. To starboard, there are two hanging lockers and a small powder station. Additional storage includes multiple drawers under the berth and cabinetry above. In the forepeak, the large guest head is equipped with an electric toilet and a flip-down teak seat and teak floor grate. Two large lockers and additional storage behind the mirrors over the vanity complete this well-appointed space.
The Hylas 46 delivers a luxurious, practical, and upgraded living environment that is perfect for discerning sailors who value both comfort and performance. Deck
