Lotus is one of the Canadian-built Bristol Channel Cutters designed by Lyle Hess and built by Channel Cutter Yachts in Vancouver. Over the years, this design has captured the imagination of sailors looking to cross oceans in a small but seaworthy classic cruiser
Everyone admires and comments on LOTUS.
Lyle Hessʼ Bristol Channel Cutter seems to be on many dreamboat lists.
The design has a universal appeal and proven stability and ruggedness.
Bluewater cruising in smaller classic designs was popularised for decades by Lin & Larry Pardey as they
circumnavigated.
Such a beautiful boat. Look-Back factor: 10/10
The quality of the gorgeous bronze hardware continues the appeal as you
approach.
Murray Winches and Simpson 2-speed manual Windlass
Bronze portholes, cleats, stantions, blocks,
Classical style with reputed fibreglass construction quality.
Teak rub-rail and bulwarks are oiled with Semco to bring out and enhance the wood.
Inside the boat, you will find beautiful hardwood, Esmeralda quartzite stone
countertops, and new updated systems with a classical feel. The rebuilt galley
features a new stove, fridge, sink, countertops, and drawers. A full 6ʼ v-berth, a
settee/berth with removable backrest, and a quarter berth as well.
Surprisingly, the salon is roomy, especially when the Sapele table is stored upright.
Major systems service, including an updated head.
The open plan suits a couple or a single person.
She is presently on the hard getting more cosmetic finishing work done by her shipwright owner.
She can be launched for a survey with very little notice.
Offers are encouraged!
Lotus is quite roomy for a 28 footer. All the way forward is a large V berth with room for two. There is a hanging locker for storage and an electric head.
Moving aft, we enter the main salon. There are two single berths to port and starboard, with numerous lockers outboard for storage. Behind each berth are shelves for books. Coming down from the forward bulkhead is a Sapele table.
The galley is next, with a two-burner propane stove with an oven, to port. There is ample counter space to prepare meals. Aft of the stove is a large storage area.
Across the cabin is a stainless steel sink with dual faucets and drawers beneath. There is a Dometic fridge/freezer adjacent to the sink.
The Yanmar diesel engine lies in an easy access cabinet beneath the companionway.
